On the job skill training for TB screening sputum examination


On the job skill training to enable PHC unit staff to examine sputum samples for Tuberculosis screening.

Course Objective:

Understand the importance of proper sample collection and storage.

Observe the appearance of the sputum and prepare sputum smear.

Know how to stain the sputum smear by Ziehl Neelsen technique and examine the smear microscopically for AFB.

Understand bio-safety procedures.

Know how to prepare stains and reagents.
